A good eye for design. Steve Hilliard worked well with our architect and took over the design of some interior details.

“Meticulous” and “Personalized” are words that come to mind when I think of the many projects that Hilliard Contracting has done at my home.

Steve Hilliard has done work on my house over the course of 20 years; after his first job on my house, I never considered asking any other builder for help.

Presented annually by the Raleigh Remodelors™ Council for top remodeling projects, such as best whole house remodel, best kitchen remodel, best bath remodel, best room addition, and many others.

About the Project:
The owners had a swimming pool in the back yard and a fantastic view of the lake. They wanted a comfy outdoor shelter that would tie the view and the backyard activities together. Hilliard Contracting knocked down an old 12 x 15 foot deck and replaced it with an inviting and elegant 650 square foot outdoor entertainment patio.

About the Chrysalis Award:
Since 1993, the Chrysalis Awards have honored the finest remodeling projects in the country. Their goal is to provide consumers, remodelers, designers, architects and editors with a resource for remodeling ideas and to identify companies that produce award-winning work.

About the project:
The client’s occupation as a sound engineer and his unique needs due to a vehicle accident made this a very interesting and challenging project. Ramps and a new concrete parking area were needed for easier entry and exit from the car. The upstairs flooring was changed to hardwoods and commercial pile carpet and the master bath and closet system were completely redesigned. Finally, an elevator was installed to provide access to the recording studio in the basement. A generator was installed to cover the possibility of a power outage.
